JDIMI supports both the local communities we work in, as well as the global community. With a strong focus on children at risk, JDIMI works to provide a positive difference through volunteer efforts and financial contributions. Below is a list of charities we continue to support:
Some employees have been directly touched by The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto and others understand the growing need for funding that donations such as that from JDIMI will help fill. SickKids Foundation's fundraising is driven by the belief that improving the health and wellbeing of children is one of the most powerful ways to improve society. Funding is required for research and for the different sizes and types of equipment needed to properly treat the hospital's patients, because they range from birth to 18 years of age.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) is the leading charitable funder and advocate of Type 1 diabetes research worldwide. Their mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. JDRF has brought the long struggle against diabetes and its complications to a turning point. Now people suffering from diabetes are beginning to see their hopes for a cure grow close to reality.
Since 1896, Yonge Street Mission (YSM) has been reaching out to meet the needs of people living in poverty in Toronto. Their diverse programs have made a positive difference in the lives of families, seniors, socially isolated adults, street-involved youth and children. YSM offers services, programs and networks of mutual support that allow those in need to improve their lives. This includes a food bank, meal programs, employment and computer training, school readiness programs, counseling, daycare and post-secondary Education Award.
Wanting to support a cause in the local community of our Belleville office, JDIMI felt strongly about supporting the Three Oaks Foundation. As part of a comprehensive network of services for women and children who have been victimized by violence, Three Oaks Foundation provides safe shelter, advocacy, education, and nonjudgmental supportive counseling within a feminist perspective.
As a primarily entrepreneurial and employee-owned brokerage, it only seems fitting for JDIMI to give to an organization that provides its clients a parallel opportunity to succeed. Opportunity International is a micro-finance organization that provides small business loans and training to the entrepreneurial poor in 28 Asian, African, Latin American and Eastern European countries. Opportunity International's mission is to transform lives by providing the working poor with start-up funds and the tools they need to rise out of poverty.
Developing World Connections exists to connect regular everyday people with communities in the developing world, to work alongside each other, while experiencing making a real and lasting difference for the benefit of everyone in the global community. Volunteers have the opportunity to work alongside local people and experience making a real and lasting difference. Help build hope and bring a sustainable future to those in the greatest need.
